Did you know that we offer our Omaha, NE, patients not one, but two different options for correcting uneven smiles without metal braces? Both Invisalign® and ClearCorrect™ help people enjoy straighter smiles with a series of custom aligners made from a clear plastic material. How do we create these cosmetic aligners, and who qualifies for treatment?
Designing Your Custom Braces
No matter which option we recommend, you will need to have a series of digital images taken of your smile. We gather these images employing intraoral cameras, which enable us to obtain detailed images in a matter of seconds comfortably. The images will be used to create a 3D model of your smile, which we employ to design and create your aligners. A custom fit means better treatment and reduced discomfort throughout the treatment process.
The Benefits of Clear Braces
First, both options employ aligners created from a clear, acrylic material. The orthodontics will be barely visible when worn, making them a preferred choice for our teen and adult patients. They also reduce the discomfort to the gums and cheeks often encountered with metal orthodontics. You will require fewer office visits and on average, treatment is shorter than the time required for metal braces.
You also have the option of removing your orthodontics! You take them out before you eat, which means no need to worry about food becoming stuck in your orthodontics, and no need to avoid sticky foods. Being removable also makes brushing and flossing much easier than it would be if you were wearing metal orthodontics. As long as you wear them for the amount of time the dentist recommends each day, you can also take them out for special occasions, such as job interviews, graduations, or dates.
When Should I Seek Treatment?
If you have poor alignment, schedule a consultation! We will carefully examine your smile to assess the cause and extent of your alignment issues. We then decide whether or not clear aligners are the right choice for you. If so, we will move forward with treatment. Typically, treatment is for teens and adults with minor cases of alignment. Remember, misalignment has been linked to a higher risks of tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder, and even bruxism. If you have issues with the alignment of your smile, then please contact our team today to discuss possible treatment options.
