How Does CEREC Create Crowns In One Visit?

The CEREC System

In the past, receiving one meant taking impressions by biting down on gooey, bad tasting molds and wearing a temporary restoration for one to two weeks while your final restoration was crafted. Now, we prepare the tooth by removing a small segment of structure and then take detailed digital impressions in a matter of minutes, no molds necessary. The digital impressions will be used to design a 3D model, which will then be uploaded into the CEREC machine. The machine then mills the crown from ceramic. Finally, we place it in the same sitting.

The ceramic we use mimics the appearance of natural tooth enamel and can be shaded to match surrounding teeth. The material also contains stain-resistant properties and offers durable restorations. We place them to repair cracked or chipped teeth, address decayed or infected teeth, lengthen worn down teeth, and help close gaps between teeth. We can also anchor a dental bridge or restore a single tooth dental implant.

Keeping Your Restorations Bright

Like your natural teeth, your new restoration requires routine care to protect it form underlying health issues and discoloration.
