At one time, when you cracked or chipped a tooth, or developed a cavity or infection, treatment would take anywhere between two and three visits. You may have even needed to wear a temporary. However, we’re proud to offer our Omaha, NE, patients treatment that addresses common cosmetic and restorative issues in a single visit. How do we repair smiles in one visit with the CEREC system?
The CEREC Process
CEREC means Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Employing advanced CAD/CAM technology, this system enables a dentist to design and create a restoration in a single visit. We may create full dental crowns, or even partials, such as inlays or onlays. We may also use this system to help design and create dental veneers. The process begins with preparation. We need to remove structure from your tooth to make room for the restoration. We then use digital imaging technology to gather detailed pictures and measurements of your tooth. Using these images, we create a 3D model. Uploaded in the CEREC milling machine, the model is used to create your restoration from a solid block of ceramic.
Placing Your New Restoration
In the same visit, we take the completed crown or partial and then check the fit, making any necessary adjustments before placing it using a powerful bonding agent. Being made from ceramic means your crown can withstand serious biteforces and offer long lasting repair. Ceramic also contains stain-resistant properties and can be shaded to match the rest of your smile, offering a lifelike solution to a wide array of cosmetic and restorative concerns.
When Does My Smile Need a Same Day Treatment?
A crown covers the entire visible portion of your tooth, which means we may place one to repair chipped and cracked teeth, lengthen worn down teeth, or to treat advanced decay or dental infection. We can reshape malformed teeth and mask permanent teeth stains. If you’ve lost one or more natural teeth, we can employ crowns to secure a custom-made dental bridge or to even restore a single tooth dental implant. If you have issues with the health and appearance of your smile, then talk to our team about possible solutions using one-visit dental crowns. If you have questions about the CEREC system, give our team a call today.
