Creating And Placing A Restoration In One Visit

For many years, hearing you needed a crown meant looking forward to two to three visits at a minimum. However, we understand how hectic our patients’ schedules can be, so we have an alternative that provides strong and dependable restorations in just one visit. In today’s blog, we’re going to look at how the CEREC system benefits our Omaha, NE, patients.

The CEREC System

The CEREC system employs CAD/CAM technology, allowing our team to design and create a restoration in a single visit. No need for two to three visits, no interim period of wearing a temporary, you leave in one visit with a healthier and more attractive smile. We begin by preparing the teeth receiving a restoration, which involves removing tooth structure. Next, we take a series of digital images of the teeth, which only takes a few seconds. We then use these images to create a 3D computer model of your smile. The model enables our team to design the restoration. The designs are sent to an onsite milling machine, which fabricates them from a solid block of ceramic. We use ceramic because the material is not only stain-resistant and strong, but can be shaded to blend with your smile and contains no metal material at all. We then place the completed restoration or prosthetic, transforming a smile in one visit.

Crowns

We may use them to create crowns, which cover the visible portion of you smile. We employ them to repair cracks or chips, and address problems with a tooth’s shape or color. We place them to lengthen worn down teeth and addressed advanced tooth decay or even an infected tooth. With proper care and attention, they can last decades.

Inlays and Onlays

If you need more than a fulling or dental bonding procedure, but don’t require a full crown, then we may suggest a partial option. Inlays and onlays will be made from ceramic and target a specific area of the tooth. An inlay fits in between the cusps on top of the tooth, while an onlay fits over them. We use them for minor damage or serious cases of tooth decay.

Dental Bridges

If you have between one and three missing teeth, then we may place a dental bridge. The prosthetic consists of your new teeth with crowns attached to each end. We place them on the natural teeth sitting on either side of the gap in your smile, which secures your new teeth.
